Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. Year of 1795.
Today, Wednesday, the 9th of December of the calendar year of 1795, I take as my sign the dear honored name of God the father and God the son and God the Holy Spirit. May (their will) be done. Amen Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.
Here I commence my testament. My name is MIguel Jerónimo and my late wife's name was Pascuala Josefa; we are citizens of San Juan Bautista Metepec, and our district is Santa Cruz Tianquiztenco. I declare that my earthly body is very ill, but my mind is perfectly sound. If God my divinity and sovereign has condemned me, I leave myself in the hands of our Lord Jesus Christ.
And I declare that I offer half (a tomin) to be given for the Holy Places of Jerusalem.
And as to where my earthly body is to lie buried, it is there at the church, inside. And my burial clothing will be as God manifests. And I declare that the aid for my spirit and soul will be one high mass in the presence of the body that they will do for me the charity of performing. My command is to be carried out.
And I declare a small house with lot an an image of God; there I have left my two grandsons, one named Gil Antonio and the other one named Rafael Valentín. They are to keep it up of God gives them life; if perhaps God should take one back, [. . .] one will remain. My command is to be carried out and performed.
And I declare that there is a piece of land of 80 (rods) located there at the Capultitlan road, next to a field of Juan de Dios Vitoriano, which I am bequeathing to these aforementioned Gil Antonio and Rafael Antonio [sic], so that they will keep up the house. My command is to be carried out.
And I declare that another small piece of land of 10 rods is there next to a field of don Cruz de los Santos; I am giving it to my daughter named Petrona Martina so that she will remember me in the future. My command is to be carried out.
And I declare there is another piece of land of 20 (rds) located there on the Toluca road next to the field of Dionisio Cosme, councilman, which I am bequeathing to my grandson named Rafael Valentín. My command is to be carried out and performed.
